14. Curtis Smith Pemberton born 24 October 1819 In Locust Grove, Ohio, died 8 June 1861 of Neuralgia of the heart, at Maysville, Kentucky, married 7 June 1843 at Maysville, Kentucky. Curtis lists his occupation on the 1850 census as a clerk, and on the 1860 census as a china merchant.

1862 - October 8 - Battle of Perryville, Kentucky. A Confederate force under General Braxton Bragg had advanced into Kentucky in the hope of compelling the withdrawal of the Federal forces to the north. Bragg threatened Cincinnati, but the Kentuckians failed to support him. He was retreating southward when he met the Federal army of General William Rosecrans in the Battle of Murfreesboro on Stone river (Dec. 31, 1862 - Jan. 3, 1863)

15. Catherine Crawford Boyd born 29 August 1821 in Lewis County, Kentucky, died 2 October 1870 of Neuralgia of the stomach, at Maysville, Kentucky.

"William Pemberton was a private in Capt. Thomas Meriwether's company, 1st Virginia State Regiment, commanded by Col. George Gibson. He enlisted for three years. His name is first on the roll Sept. 1, 1777. He served to Oct. 1, 1777, sixteen days and last appears on the roll for March 1778, without remark, but it was known that he was in the siege of Yorktown. He was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He is a great-grandfather of Ezekiel Arnold, of Locust Grove, and an ancestor of all the Pembertons of Franklin and Meigs townships."

"William Pemberton was in the War of the Revolution. He was born in 1750 in Culpeper, Virginia, on the Stanton River. He was a sucessful hunter and farmer. He married Rhoda Luck, born October 24, 1755, and had a family of nine children - five sons and four daughters. His sons were William, Nathaniel, Fountain, James, Ezekiel. His daughters were Anna, married to Thomas Murfin, Joyce married Isaac East, and Kate born January 10, 1795 married Josephus Arnold."

"William Pemberton came to Kentucky just at the time of the Indian Massacure at Crab Orchard and reached Boonesboro the next day after that event. Kate Pemberton was then a small girl but remembered seeing the bodies of the victums of the massacure. Her father remained at Boonesboro nearly two years. He returned to Virginia, but soon came back to Ohio and settled in Adams County near Locust Grove in 1808. He died about 1823 of rheumatism. His wife died January 1, 1845 at the age of ninety."

William was a Private in Captain Thomas Merriweather's Company in 1st Virginia State Regiment commanded by Colonel George Gibson.

Francis was a Captain of Pittsylvania County Militia in Virginia in the Revolutionary War.

115. Sarah Hubbard born about 1730. died 12 March 1821 in Pittslyvania County, Virginia. Sarah gave the Continental Army supplies of brandy, bacon, oats and corn for their use. Thus she was a Patriot in the Revolutionary War, which means her descendants may be members of the DAR.
