From Evelyn Frost Rush (book not yet published) "In the year 1785, three years previous to the town of Schaghticoke being formed...Jabez Buckley and wife Phoebe Frost, rode on horseback from Dutchess county, NY through Albany and what is now known as the City of Troy through the wilderness to what is known as the Buckley farm...where he purchased about one hundred and twenty acres of land, built a log house...he found his title to the land was useless and was obliged to go to New York City and repurchase, losing all the money paid on the first purchase. The trip to New York was made on a sloop and two weeks time was used to make it. He added to his original purchase until at his death he owned three hundred and thirty acres.

During the War of the Revolution, Thomas was with Montgomery at the taking of Montreal. His time being about up, he returned home and did not go to Quebec.
